Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of massage do you offer?

My sessions are intuitive, therapeutic, and nervous-system focused.

Rather than following the same routine every time, I work with what your body is presenting that day. A session may include therapeutic massage, slower fascial work, sustained pressure, stretching, gentle energy work, sound, and focused techniques where your body needs more attention.

Some days your body may need deeper, more specific work. Other days it may need a slower session centered around rest and regulation.

We decide together.

What does “intuitive massage and bodywork” mean?

It simply means I don’t approach your body with a predetermined formula.

I pay attention to your tissue, your breathing, areas of holding or tension, and how your nervous system is responding throughout the session. From there, I adjust the pace, pressure, and techniques I use.

**You don’t need to know what kind of massage you need before you arrive.**

That’s part of what we figure out together.

Should I book a 60-minute or 90-minute session?

For most clients, I recommend the **90-minute session**.

Ninety minutes gives your body time to settle before we move into more focused therapeutic work. It’s especially helpful if you have several areas you’d like addressed, you’re carrying a lot of tension or stress, or you simply want a session that doesn’t feel rushed.

The **60-minute session** is a wonderful option for maintenance, more focused work, or when your schedule doesn’t allow for 90 minutes.

Do you offer deep tissue massage?

Yes—but I don’t believe therapeutic work has to mean pushing as hard as possible.

I can work deeply when your body is receptive to it while still paying attention to how your muscles, fascia, breathing, and nervous system are responding.

Sometimes slower, intentional pressure allows the body to soften much more effectively than simply forcing our way through tension.

What should I expect during my first session?

We’ll begin with a brief conversation about what’s bringing you in, how your body has been feeling, any injuries or areas of concern, and what you’d like from your session.

Then we begin.

There’s nothing special you need to prepare or figure out beforehand.

**You can simply arrive as you are.**

What should I wear?

Wear whatever feels comfortable to arrive in.

For the massage itself, you’ll undress only to your own comfort level and will remain professionally draped throughout your session. Only the area I am actively working on is uncovered.

Your comfort and sense of safety always come first.

Do I need to talk during my massage?

Not at all.

Some clients enjoy talking for part of their session. Others become quiet almost immediately. Many do a little of both.

You are welcome to sleep, talk, breathe deeply, zone out, or simply enjoy being still.

There is no right way to receive your massage.

I may occasionally check in about pressure or comfort, but otherwise this time is yours.

Can I tell you if I want more or less pressure?

Absolutely. In fact, I want you to.

Massage should never be something you feel like you have to endure.

You can ask for more pressure, less pressure, a different position, another blanket, less conversation, more explanation—or for me to stop working on an area—at any point during your session.

Do you work with people who are stressed, overwhelmed, or have trouble relaxing?

Yes. This is a big part of how I approach my work.

Many of us carry stress physically without realizing just how much our bodies are holding.

Massage can give your nervous system an opportunity to slow down while also addressing muscular tension and discomfort.

And you do **not** have to be good at relaxing before you come in.

Do you offer prenatal massage?

Yes.

Massage during pregnancy can be a beautiful way to support a changing body and provide relief from some of the muscular tension and physical demands that can come with pregnancy.

Your session will be adapted for your comfort and stage of pregnancy.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy or specific medical concerns, I recommend checking with your healthcare provider before scheduling.

Do you work with women going through perimenopause or menopause?

Absolutely.

The changes that happen during perimenopause and menopause can affect sleep, stress levels, muscle tension, energy, and even the way we experience our bodies.

Massage isn’t a treatment for hormonal changes themselves, but it can provide a deeply supportive place for rest, physical relief, reconnection, and nervous-system regulation during a season of life that can sometimes feel like a lot.

Can massage help with an injury or chronic pain?

Massage and bodywork may help reduce muscular tension, improve comfort, and support mobility, depending on what is causing your symptoms.

If you’re dealing with a recent injury, unexplained pain, significant swelling, numbness, or something that may require medical evaluation, I may recommend speaking with your healthcare provider first.

Massage is supportive care and isn’t a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.

What if I have a larger body or feel self-conscious about receiving massage?

**You are welcome here.**

You do not need to lose weight, change your body, shave, dress a certain way, or apologize for anything about your body before coming in.

My job is to create a comfortable, respectful space where you can receive care in the body you have today.

Is your practice LGBTQ+ affirming?

Absolutely.

My practice is a welcoming and affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients and people of all genders, identities, orientations, body types, backgrounds, and life experiences.

I will always honor your name, pronouns, boundaries, and the way you choose to be in your body.

There is nothing you need to explain, change, or apologize for before coming through my door.

**All bodies. All identities. All people are welcome here.**

What if I fall asleep?

Please do.

Falling asleep during massage is incredibly common and can be a pretty good sign that your body feels safe enough to let go for a while.

And yes—snoring is completely normal too.

Is it okay if I get emotional during a session?

Yes.

Sometimes when we finally slow down, emotions can surface unexpectedly.

You may feel peaceful, emotional, tired, relieved—or nothing particularly dramatic at all.

There is no expectation that anything needs to happen.

If emotion does arise, you are welcome to simply let it be there.

Do you incorporate energy work or sound into every massage?

Not necessarily.

My sessions may include subtle energy work, sound, or other supportive elements when they feel appropriate, but massage and hands-on bodywork remain at the heart of the session.

And nothing is mandatory.

If there’s something you especially enjoy—or something you’d rather not include—just let me know.

Do you offer a community rate?

I believe regular bodywork can be incredibly supportive, and I also understand that receiving massage consistently at full price isn’t financially accessible for everyone.

I keep a small number of **community-rate appointments** available for local clients who would benefit from regular care but aren’t able to comfortably afford my full session rate.

Availability is limited and depends on my current schedule.

If ongoing bodywork would be meaningful for you but cost is a barrier, please feel welcome to reach out and ask.

**There is never any shame in asking.**

How often should I get a massage?

There really isn’t one correct schedule.

Some clients come weekly or every other week during physically or emotionally demanding periods. Others come once a month as part of their ongoing care, and some simply schedule when their body tells them it’s time.

If you’re unsure, we can talk about what makes sense for your body, lifestyle, and budget.

I’m visiting the Central Coast. Can I book a session while I’m here?

Absolutely.

I love welcoming visitors who are spending time in **Los Osos, Baywood Park, Morro Bay, and the surrounding Central Coast.**

Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, visiting family, celebrating something special, or simply need some time to yourself while you’re away, you’re very welcome to book.

I recommend reserving ahead of your trip when possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that life happens and sometimes plans need to change.

Because I reserve your appointment time specifically for you, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee.

Of course, illness and true emergencies happen. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out to me as soon as you can.

What forms of payment do you accept? Is gratuity expected?

Payment is due at the time of your session and can be made using the payment options available through my booking system.

Gratuity is always appreciated, but never expected.

My pricing reflects the care, time, and experience that goes into each session, so please don’t ever feel obligated to add a tip. I’m simply happy you chose to spend this time caring for yourself.

What if I’m not feeling well on the day of my appointment?

If you’re sick or think you may be contagious, please stay home and take care of yourself. We can find another time for your massage.

If you have a fever, vomiting, significant respiratory symptoms, a contagious illness, or simply feel too unwell to comfortably receive massage, it’s better for both of us to reschedule.

If you’re unsure whether you should come in, just reach out. We can decide together.

Please don’t worry about coming in sick just to avoid a cancellation fee. Your health—and mine—comes first.

Where are you located?

My private massage practice is located in **Los Osos, California**, near Morro Bay on California’s beautiful Central Coast.

You’ll receive the details you need for your visit with your appointment information.

How do I book?

The easiest way to schedule is by sending me a text at (805) 794-7959 or through my online booking page.

You’ll be able to see my current availability and choose either a 60-minute or 90-minute session.

Ready for some time for you?

A few things you may be wondering before your session.

Whether massage is already part of your regular care or you haven’t been on a massage table in years, it’s completely normal to have questions before booking.

My hope is that you feel comfortable, informed, and welcome before you ever walk through the door.
